It wasn’t like he could control all of those women, much less decide which one he wanted in his life and which one out of it. In fact, there wasn’t probably one he didn’t need. Each one of them meant something to him and were important for every decision he took. Without them, Hawkeye would be no more.
“Right now… you’re not in my way and I don’t have things to do, so… speaking of the present, you do not need to leave nor do I want you to. Let’s leave that clear, alright?” Clint eyed at the dog acting so comfortable around a person whom he hadn’t met before. That was strange even for Lucky, usually he didn’t dare approach people like this for at least a week. He remembered perfectly how hard it was for Bobbi to be able to merely touch his fur. “It’s not me the one telling them to care about me. Much like the opposite… They worry and they come on their own. I do get your point, though…”
He scratched the back of his neck, feeling like there was something behind the way they were touching this topic. It felt as if they were hiding a relationship, which Clint refused to accept as such. He shook his head to erase that thought. “Look, if you don’t like the chance that you may see Natasha or Kate or I don’t know in my apartment, I don’t have a problem in…” Why was he even assuming already that there would be a second time? Or more times? “I mean, you did tell me your address. We can meet there if we want to talk.” That’d be better. Calling it talking. Because maybe that’s all there would be in the future. And that wasn’t wrong.
Karla was too busy listening and physically distracted by lucky to realise how many clues she was giving way. Even after she turned her face to the dog and said, “You hear that? I think he’s trying to say he would like me to stay.”
Lucky was a very sharp dog, maybe sharper that she still gave the canine credit for. She had been forced to buy them treats and food, carefully deducing what the dog liked and didn’t. Every time Karla had snuck into the apartment when no was around, Lucky knew she was wandering intangibly. The woman even went so far as to figure out Lucky didn’t bark at her when she phased in through the door from the hallway rather than the window, the ceiling or another wall. She had to give the dog ever reason to believe she was supposed to be there, even if she avoided making contact with Clint.
“Of course, you’re welcome to come over for dinner or if you are just bored to pieces.” She could have mentioned how he explained liking company when his hearing aids were dead, but she didn’t. Triggering one of his defense mechanisms wasn’t her ideal desire. She had already scratched at his soft spot- women.
Rocking onto her knees, she set herself between his legs. Still looking up at him, Lucky to her right side, Karla continued. “So what are you in the mood for? More food, watching something on TV or going upstairs and trying out your bed?” He likely knew that two of those three suggestions would end up in some sort of foreplay- at least.
